Nearing the end of its descent from Soldier Summit, an eastbound Rio Grande mixed freight passes Utah Railway Junction as it approaches Helper. The diverging line is, of course, the Utah Railway to the yard in Martin and points beyond. The main objective for this trip was to photograph the Rio Grande Zephyr, which had only a month remaining before discontinuance. One of my great regrets is that we didn’t make an effort to hunt down a Utah Railway train while in the area.
