Remarks & Notes |
Heatwaves rise off the radiators of the diesels on a southbound Union Pacific manifest is about to begin the hard work of crossing southern California's Tehachapi Mountains as it approaches the first curve since departing Bakersfield fifteen miles earlier. For the next 35 miles the curves become nearly constant and the grade steepens until the summit is reached at the town of Tehachapi. A trio of ES44ACs (8006, 7353 and 7345) are on the headend of train Q RVWCB-05 (Roseville Yard CA to West Colton Yard CA), and near the end of the train are three more (7362, 5430 and 8056). |
