With infrequent and unpredictable operations on the former Minneapolis & St Louis west of Morton, trains on this line are elusive. After moving to the area last September, I've been patiently waiting, hoping to get an opportunity to see anything move along here. In the depths of winter, tell-tale plow ridges would remain at crossings for weeks at a time, then suddenly be busted through, leaving no doubt that I had once again missed an opportunity. Finally, it happened that I stumbled upon a lone GP30C working at the plant west of North Redwood on a Tuesday morning and I was able to capture this rare shot of a train crossing the Redwood River. Having never seen a picture of a train on this bridge except for a few old postcards of steam trains, I thought I would maybe have to wait years to get any kind of chance to take this shot, so even on a cloudy day I was more than thrilled. Oh, and did I mention it was my birthday?
