A four pack of SD70Ms march up the eastern slope of Sherman Hill with a westbound Z train on the drawbar. Leaving Bufford, WY the Z train has nearly made the 8015' summit at Sherman. Most westbounds leaving Cheyenne take advantage of the easier grade on 3 track which follows an alignment to the south of 1 & 2, however powered up shooters, as in this case, often utilize the shorter path up to Sherman.
