Now that’s a super vac! During a locomotive rebuild process of cutting, welding, grinding, etc., a lot of debris and other contaminants is generated, in addition to all the dirt accumulated over the years in more inaccessible areas of a locomotive. To keep the working areas clean on and inside a locomotive, an industrial-strength shop vacuum is used. In this view, Porta- Vac 3 is being used to clean up the cab and nose area of Union Pacific SD40-2 No. 3071 during its rebuilding into a SD40N at UP’s well-equipped shop at North Little Rock, Arkansas, on May 18, 2015.
