Re 4/4 II # 11244 and 11157 are pulling the heavy 17 cars of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express (VSOE) Calais-Paris-Basel-Chiasso-Venice over the 120 meter long Secken viaduct on the Gotthard north ramp. The viaduct is the only on the Gotthard mountain line, which is more or less in the appearance from when it was built (1880-1882). It got 10 instead of 6 bows when the line was double tracked in 1893. |
