Since 1893 when the railwayline from Schiedam to Hoek van Holland was opened Hoek van Holland is the place where the ships to Harwich set sail. In the middle a lighthouse that in 1974 replaced the one to the right, dating from 1893. That one now houses a lighthousemuseum. To the left the platforms wherefrom until 1993 trains to places as Berlin and even Moscow left. During the seventies TEE Rheingold left from here (see picture 458982). From spring 2017, the railwayline will be rebuild and connected to the Rotterdam underground. NS 2954 (Talbot Aachen 1979) leaves Hoek van Holland Haven for Rotterdam Centraal. |
