| The southern most 200' of the Alaska Railroad is not in Alaska, but rather Washington State. On a nice summer evening in Seattle, the UP Barge job is unloading the barge that has the distinction of being the longest regular barge haul of railroad cars in the US (the world?) at over 2000 miles. The three cabooses on the left are typically used as idler cars to load the barge. The UP most have brought a couple of cars with them to use idlers this afternoon. Of course off to the right is Seattle's iconic Space Needle. |
