"Rattling the Rust off of the Rails!"
The Kanawha River Railroad made its inaugural run over the northern portion of the West Virginia Secondary (ex-T&OC, NYC, Conrail) line this afternoon/evening. The line had been subject to rust and encroaching brush since earlier this year when NS called it quits. The newly formed Kanawha River Railroad will bring new life to this line with daily freight trains boasting SD45's, GP38-2's, and leased NS SD60's. They will also handle occasional coal trains on the line such as this, utilizing NS power on point and their units on pusher duties. In this scene, a pair of SD60's put today's drag on their shoulders as they make their way past the Glouster depot and head towards the punishing grades at Moxahala and New Lexington. (8/22/16)
