Seen here is westbound Union Pacific train just off of the Rambo Fill segment of the Great Salt Lake Causeway in western Utah passing in front of Strongs Knob. It is the UP 5229 west with the ZSKDLP-02. I think this is the empty, return move of what many years ago on the SP was called the Salad Bowl Express. The train was only 17 cars long; 16 CryoTrans reefers and one Union Pacific mechanical reefer. Ahead lie 58 miles of nearly curveless and dead level trackage crossing the salt pans and mud flats of the Great Salt Lake Desert to Lucin, Utah. After Lucin it is a long, uphill grade past Montello to Valley Pass, Nevada.
