On October 29th and 30th, 2016, the Mass Bay Railroad Enthusiasts (MBRRE) and the Providence & Worcester railroad teamed up, running an excursion train out of Worcester to the Valley Railroad, via Putnam, Groton, and Old Saybrook. From Old Saybrook, the train would be handed off from the P&W to the Valley Railroad, where their 2-8-2 steam locomotive NH 3025 would take the train north, to a location known as Goodspeeds. Here, the excursion is seen in a section of Chester on the Valley Railroad known as Hadlyme among some colorful foliage. This excursion being seen as a "farewell" type of trip for the Providence & Worcester, as they are to be bought out by Genesee & Wyoming on November 1st, 2016.
