The Canadian National created a new locomotive model in the mid 1970’s when it had a need for additional locomotives to be assigned to the light trackage branches in the Maritime Provinces. Thirty eight MLW RS18’s were rebuilt, derated to 1400 horsepower, and fitted with A1A trucks from retired RSC-13’s and RSC-24’s. The new configuration was designated RSC-14. Here one of the rebuilds is at the western end of its assigned territory as it goes to work in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec as a nasty ice storm rolls into the area. .
