Remarks & Notes
As the light glimmer of light descends below the hills of Meigs County and glistens off the side of 4211 and 4213, Kanawha River Railroad manifest KN381 waits at the north end of Hobson Yard on the former C&O Pomeroy Subdivision for a recrew to head towards Watkins Yard in Columbus. After WATCO took over the former West Virginia Secondary and part of the Princeton-Deepwater District to Elmore in July of this year, the shortline has been working diligently to restore service between Columbus and the chemical valley of Kanawha County, putting over 100 miles of rail taken out of service by Norfolk Southern back into service and running upwards of 3-4 trains each direction a week between the two points, in addition to several local moves out of Dickinson and Nitro yards, bringing life back to a line once thought to be on the chopping block.
