Remarks & Notes
Sometimes, quite by accident, you discover something truly extraordinary. On July 24, 2000, I found a Union Pacific coal train departing Provo, traveling west down the Sharp Subdivision on its way to the Los Angeles port. As the cars squealed around the Barry Curve, I noticed a D&RGW 100 ton hopper repainted with Southern Pacific's 'Speed Lettering' logo. Come to find out years later that only one member of Rio Grande's 'Great Steel Fleet' received this logo and I was lucky enough to catch it.
