| Far from its home rails along the coast, Amtrak's northbound Coast Starlight makes the most of the straight track from Monolith as it works upgrade toward the summit of Tehachapi Pass. On this day, both Starlights would find themselves detouring via the Central Valley and Tehachapi after the coast line was shut down for a complete bridge replacement somewhere on the line. |
