Next Stop: Willow Street!

A Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority "Blue Line" train approaches the Willow Street Station in Long Beach, California, on December 29, 2016. This southbound train is heading from downtown Los Angeles to downtown Long Beach on what was the first line in LAMTA's light rail system, opened on July 14, 1990. The "Blue Line" is 22 miles long and generally follows the route of the last operating Pacific Electric Railway "Red Car" line. This is the LAMTA's second busiest line carries an estimated 28.5 million riders per year. This train is passing a siding located between the two mainlines, which can be accessed from either line and can also be used as a crossover.
