Shortly after leaving the service stop at Greeley, UP Train PDVCB3 24 is balling the jack on a northbound run ahead of a strengthening thunderstorm. This is an equipment deadhead move from the Cheyenne Frontier Days Denver Post Special, shuttling the steam engine and support cars back home to Cheyenne, Wyoming to the steam shop. UP 1989 and the Council Bluffs, IA based passenger cars will head out later this evening to their affiliated shop.
On our way back south we ran into 80 MPH winds and slightly larger than golf ball size hail, so it's probably a good thing they highballed north.
