Remarks & Notes |
As the remaining high hoods on the NS roster sit and await an uncertain fate. It's always nice to look back upon a collection of photographs and think, I sure am glad I took that. After being in storage for a number of years, NS 2873 was finally officially taken of the NS roster just this year. However a little over 4 years ago I found an old friend trundling southbound on a forgotten Southern Railway secondary mainline. Now a mere stub end route. A typical rainy spring day sets the mood for this scene. 2873 was looking battered and beaten. Almost like it knew it's careers end was quickly approaching. It's prime mover smoked heavily with even the shortest train and lightest load. As it had done probably hundreds of times before in its 46 year railroad career. 2873 would soon come to a stop and its final trip up the L line would be finished. To my knowledge after this no more GP38AC's made it to the NS L line. |
