A loaded shuttle grain train crosses a raised stretch of track and bridge over the lake on the east side of Churchs Ferry. The reconstruction occurred circa 2012 in a joint investment between BNSF, Amtrak, and the state of North Dakota, in addition to a Tiger grant. Total cost between this location and another just west of Devils Lake was over $100 million, but it was worth it to restore a key freight and passenger rail route across North Dakota.
