A Rare Bird Around These Parts
Leaning into the curve on main 2 track through Aetna Hollow in the mountain community of Whiteside, TN, Haulage right CSX Z345-07 (NS 117) slowly eases down the north-end of Raccoon Mountain grade. Far from home rails the lead motor of the train is a BC Rail C40-8M still sporting the original owner paint scheme. It's hard to believe that this paint scheme is slowly fading away as the owner Canadian National is getting around to paint all of there units into the company scheme. The train will run north on the Subdivision where the designated train will get back on NS Trackage in Stevenson, then it's off to Sheffield Classification Yard in Sheffield, AL.
Freight Cowls are standard locomotives that have a hood that extends the full width of the locomotive. Sadly, most Freight Cowls have been retired, but a few still run on short lines.
