North Meets South. For a few minutes, tension filled the air at Ventura as worried passengers on the platform feared that there might not be enough room to fit everyone on this morning's edition of Amtrak 761. This tension quickly dispersed, thankfully, as over the exterior loudspeakers the conductor's voice could be heard stating, "Don't worry folks, we've got three additional cars from the north on the back of the train that will be repositioned after we fill the first set of cars for those of you still on the platform." A few minutes after those very words were spoken, the train pulled forward and came to its second stop to begin the loading of the rest of the passengers on the small platform in a timely manor. LOSSAN, Amtrak California and Amtrak itself made a commendable effort to assist those in need of transportation during the deadly Montecino mudslides at the beginning of 2018.
