Remarks & Notes |
OPE1 is the first Soviet traction unit manufactured by Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Works between 1970 and 2001. It designed for work on open cast mining railways, electrified in the single-phase AC power frequency of 50 Hz at a voltage of 10 kV. It also have an opportunity to work on non-electrified stretches. The equipment of the unit is designed for reliable operation at higher voltage in the contact network to 11.6 kV and lowered to 7.5 kV. OPE1 consists of AC electric section (max power - 6600 kW) and section with diesel generator (max power - 1471 kW). OPE1 externally reminds electric locomotives of the VL*** series, but it higher (for better visibility over dumpcars), bigger and heavier (30 tones per axle against 23-25) than them. This photo illustrates the using of OPE1 without contact wires at "Pavlovsk Mining and Processing Integrated Works" ("Pavlovsky GOK") which is the largest plant for extraction and processing of granite in Europe. |
