F units on Crawford A rare treat among all of the coal trains, Burlington Northern EMD F9A-2 No. BN-1 crests the top of Crawford Hill at Belmont, Nebraska, on the point of an eastbound intermodal train on July 9, 1994. Behind BN-1 is F9B-2 No. BN-2 and two SD40-2s, that are on the drawbar of five of BN’s business cars up front in the train. Both of the F units were rebuilt in 1990, and are painted in Grinstein colors—but in a railroad environment, I’m not sure about that white roof!
