As the sun rises on this early spring morning we see NS 734 (Memphis/BNSF-Juliette,GA) glide its way out of town after making a crew change at Webb, heading for the Georgia Power Steam Plant Scherer. Also we see NS 168 (Chattanooga,TN-Granite City, MO) with a trio of Canadian National motors at the helm of the 5,400ft long train as it make its way north out of the departure track heading for the CNO&TP for Missouri. During the 2014 year many of the class one railroad was experiencing a major power shortage at a time when freight car count was at a high, and seeing a train like NS 168 with a motor pool of borrowed power from other railroads was common, often times those were the better days of railfanning.
