The Big Six
Running at track speed on the main 1 track, CSX Q210-04 (Dixiana,SC-Louisville,KY) is on the outskirts of Stevenson, AL (MP J-116.2) working it's way north for Nashville, TN. The long northbound empty was being led by some big muscle at the time of the CSX roster, CSX 5012 was 1 of 53 of the big AC6000 (CW46AH) after de-reated to 4400hp later on. The big AC was a fine example of a time when the horse power race was at it's height in the 1990s between EMD out of London, Ontario, and GE Transportation out of Erie, PA, the Union Pacific, and CSX were the only two buyers at the time. With another surprise decision coming out of Jacksonville a large piece of the AC6000 (CW46AH) included CSX 5012 were to be retired, and sold off to Progress Rail. Only CSX 600-602 are currently still on the active CSX locomotive roster and reclassed as CW44ACs due to the complete engine change.
