Remarks & Notes 
One of the more uniquely painted BNSF power units was BNSF 2043 (GP38-2). This engine started life in 1971 as a GP38 for the Penn Central Railroad, then worked for Conrail and then GATX before being acquired by the BNSF. The engine retained its distinctive Smurf Blue GATX paint but the BNSF added the Heritage III 'swoosh'.
