The bridge across the North Dvina river was built during the Second World War in order to supply coal from the vast Pechora coal deposits to the central USSR and to the war front. Its length is 946 meters, height is 18 meters. The bridge was built as soon as possible (in one winter of 1941 - 1942, later it was only reconstructed) by the labor of prisoners. This was one of the most terrible constructions of the Gulag system... The cemeteries were on either side of the river. The death toll is in the thousands. The exact figure of the dead builders of the bridge is not fixed to this day...
