Remarks & Notes |
A southbound loaded coal train out of Loyall from the Balkin Mine, is destined for the Eastman Chemical plant at Kingsport, TN. The CSXT operates over the NS Appalachia District from Big Stone Gap down to Frisco, to gain access to the Clinchfield near Kingsport. This section of railroad is a rugged 43 miles with many grades between 1.2-1.5%. A C201 rear end helper crew came out of Loyall to help this 90 car coal train all the way to Yuma Siding. Here the train passes thru the west end of the Siding named Jasper. The engineer kicks the air off as they are now at the bottom of the 5 miles 1.28% grade south of Oreton. This is old Southern trackage up to Andover. |
