Seattle Center Monorail Red Train is emerging from the tunnel of steel through Seattle's Experience Music Project Museum and arriving at its final destination Seattle Center.
Opened in 1962 together with the Space Needle for the World's Fair Century 21 Exposition.
The German design from the sixties is unmistakable, the trains were built by ALWEG in the Linke-Hofmann-Bush plant in Salzgitter (nowadays part of Alstom).
Regarded as a technology of the future in the 50s/60s, there were several ALWEG straddle-beam monorail projects in Europe, like in Frankfurt, Jena, Vienna but they all failed. A short line was built in Turin for the exhibition Italia 61 and closed afterwards.
