Remarks & Notes |
As an eastbound stack train speeds downhill toward Bagdad and Amboy, BNSF 4784 West roars up the stiff grade through the giant S-curve at Klondike. This split alignment was installed in the mid-1920s during the railroad presidency of William Benson Storey. At that time, a large facility was located at the bottom of Ash Hill at Bagdad, including prep for helpers and a crew restaurant. |
