It's a beautiful, spring day on Cuesta Pass as the sound of two General Electric locomotives straining to pull a heavy train upgrade echoes off the hillsides. The louder than normal chugging of two P42's comes following the addition of five private cars on the rear of today's train out of Los Angeles that include the Silver Lariat, Silver Rapids, Silver Solarium, Evelyn Henry and the Warren R. Henry. The wonderfully restored cars are seen about to duck into the darkness of Tunnel 11 as they split the still active, ex-Southern Pacific searchlights located at the north end of the siding at Chorro.
