Remarks & Notes |
After arriving in North Bay many hours late due to striking a backhoe 40 miles north of here as CN 451 (causing fatal injuries to the backhoe operator) 450 departed North bay well into daylight today. Approaching Huntsville they had to wait for CN 595 to finish switching duties around town so they could lift 595's power and 4 cars for return to Mac Yard in Toronto. Approaching 595's limits they found the service brakes weren't slowing them down and had to go into emergency, stopping just 2 car lengths shy of 595's limits. Now, after completing their Huntsville work they are back underway again and wasting no time as they approach Mile 138 of the CN Newmarket Sub. They didn't wye the power in North Bay as per usual so the unit that sustained damage in yesterday's incident - CN 5766 - wouldn't be leading. It appeared there was damage to the handrails, uncoupling lever and a ditch light on 5766. |
