On a day in which most meteorologists predicted a blizzard for the Boston metro area and forced the cancellation of all schools, this was the worst that took place. Barely a light dusting occurred, which meant that a potentially sloppy commute home turned into a breeze for rail and car commuters alike. While most of this scene remains the same today, the one casualty that has taken place in the 9 years since is the retirement of MBTA's F40 fleet. Living on borrowed time at this point, the screamers provided service on Boston's commuter rail network for 35 years before their retirement in 2014-15. Now, only the photos last as a memory of a by-gone era, replaced by the modern HSP46 units from MPI.
