Augusta Special Redux? NS 270 leads the OCS down the Southern's R-Line through the quaint town of Ridge Spring, SC, on the way to Augusta, GA. This is the route that the Southern's Augusta Special, trains numbered 31 and 32, followed in some form or another from 1915 until about 1966, when it ran as a separate train from New York to Augusta, though it ended any real connection with its original format in 1956 when it was combined with the Crescent to Charlotte, and from there ran separately to Augusta.
