Remarks & Notes |
In late March major flooding went on with the Missouri River around Omaha and south, the BNSF Creston Sub is out of service. March 21st was the 1st day Amtrak's California Zephyr was scheduled to detour from Chicago to Council Bluffs via the UP thru Iowa. The UP was also shut down west and south of Omaha for flooding. So the Clinton Sub is pretty quite that week. A few westbounds and a few BNSF detours off the Creston Sub was about it. That meant we were actually lucky enough to get westbound Amtrak in daylight in Iowa. Normally by the time UP gets done with them in Illinois it is well past bedtime on most detours, but taking advantage of an empty railroad #5 is making good time for a detour route! Here the train scream thru Clarence and pass the iconic Land O'Lakes Purina Feed elevator. The standard UP motor pilots the train west on ATC/PTC territory. |
