If you rewind to 2015 you would find that both of these beauties looked nothing like they do today. They had seen better days. Both were in different colors and badly faded. 5940, an EMD GP9 built in 1955 and delivered to the Chesapeake and Ohio made it's way back to the paint scheme it originally wore but lettered for the Shenandoah Valley Railroad as the railroad continues to paint it's first generation power in their original colors.
Built in 1968 for the C&O by the International Car Company, caboose #3260 was under private ownership when purchased by the Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railroad, the parent company of the SVRR. It also was recently repainted back into it's original C&O colors. |
