Big steam in the shadow of the Wasatch. Union Pacific's mighty Northern #844 steams in the yard at Ogden's Union Station on the eve of the sesquicentennial of the Transcontinental Railroad, with the snow-covered Wasatch Mountains as a back-drop. This locomotive, which has been in the spotlight for so many events in the last decade was definitely playing second fiddle to her new stablemate, Big Boy #4014 during the Spike 150 events in May of 2019. The ceremonies in downtown Ogden provided about the only opportunity during the entire, two-week operation for those of us who had never seen 844 previously to get a few stills of her on her own.
