The second southbound Pacific Surfliner of the year departs Fullerton, California, on New Year's Day 2018. Train 564 is powered by P42DC 168 with a mix of Amfleet and Horizon Fleet cars - as well as Amtrak's only dome car, 10031 "Ocean View." The dome is aptly named, as this train will skirt the Pacific Ocean for much of its trip to San Diego, and this equipment will turn and head north to San Luis Obispo, again running along the ocean in California's Central Coast area.
