There are times when you can’t plan for certain aspects of a shot, but you can take advantage of a developing situation. Such was the case on August 15, after several severe storms blew through the Olean, NY, area, setting up for a rather dramatic sunset by the Western New York & Pennsylvania RR enginehouse. With a quick jump to action and activation of the lighting equipment, all the pieces came together nicely for a couple dramatic images. Gathered under the colorful skies were a trio of ex-Cartier MLWs, a C630, a pair of C430s, and the ex-D&H rebuilt RS3.
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
