Ghosts of Union Station. A glimpse into the past is captured in this empty walkway as three railroaders, dressed in proper overalls as if they had stepped off their steam locomotive, descend to the main aisle beneath the tracks of Los Angeles Union Station. If you squint just slightly and use a little imagination, you can almost hear the humming dynamos, thumping air pumps and clanging bells of steam engines lined up across the many tracks here. Add in the banging of baggage carts crossing the tracks and chattering of passengers looking to make their connection to some of the finest passenger trains on the west coast. Open your eyes and realize it's 2016 - and the three men part of the crew of resorted Santa Fe 3751 that is on display as part of Metrolink's F125 unveiling. Sometimes it's fun to remember the past really isn't all that far away.
