Remarks & Notes |
One thing that is crazy is all the houses and cars that are abandoned out here that nature is taking back. The Rapid City to Huron east train pokes along at 10 mph as they make the last 18 miles into Pierre. This train was build at Rapid City Yard on late Friday night and staged at Box Elder for a Saturday afternoon crew to take to Phillip. Now the Sunday morning the train has only made it roughly 110 miles since the 16:45 departure from Box Elder. This train would only be to Miller Siding (MP 402) on Monday morning, and staged there til evening for a work block. Since Friday night the train has only made it 207 miles in 58 hours (average 3.6 mph). Things clearly aren't running as smoothly as they should. A very wet summer and a shortage of people hasn't help the cause. |
