Remarks & Notes |
The CN uses the ex-Oakways around Iowa in mainly local service. Getting a pair of them in grain train service is a bit odd. Once in awhile one might be added as a "kicker" for extra power, but rarely they get on unit trains solo. A pair was used for this Waterloo to Cedar Rapids grain train. The train has 57 grain out of Stacyville, IA, and a few odds and ends local cars on the rear end. The train is seen here just starting up the 4th hard pull out of 4 on the Cedar Rapids Sub near MP 22. This 42 miles branch south of Manchester twist and turns quite a bit giving these 2 SD60's a run for their money. The train is still 20 miles from Cedar Rapids and where most of the traffic will go to the CIC for delivery to the ADM plant on the southside. |
