Remarks & Notes
Worn-out, obsolete, unneeded - all words that might accurately describe these old locomotives, as well as their dilapidated surroundings. But L&N is going to give several RS-3s (delivered in 1954 and 1955) new life as unpowered slugs mated to powered switchers, and the conversions will be performed by RSCo right here in a portion of the old WofA backshop. I think the slugs are all gone now, but they did serve for quite a few years. RSCo is also gone, and the shop buildings, despite efforts to find a reuse, were continuing to deteriorate the last time I saw them in 2002.
