Relics like this slowly get consumed by mother nature. This bridge branched off the PRR/MGA/NS and followed the Monongahela River (Ten Mile Creek meets the Mon here under the bridge) down to the Nemacolin Coal Company, a Youngstown Sheet and Tube ownership. It was a fairly busy mine, along with the dozens that operated way back in the early 1900's. The town remains as do the footprints of the old mine.
564 heads north along the confluence of Ten Mile Creek and the Monongahela River along the NS Mon Line, passing relics of the PRR Nemacolin Branch that hasn't seen a train in decades upon decades in Millsboro PA. |
