Remarks & Notes |
Blockade Running: With a First Nations protest blocking rail traffic between Southern Ontario and Quebec, CN has started detouring trains in the back way. The route includes the CN Newmarket Sub between Washago and North Bay, creating a boon for railfans on this normally sleepy line. From North Bay the trains travel on Ontario Northland tracks up and across into Quebec where they switch back to CN rails at Rouyn-Noranda then on to either Montreal or points east (it's a lot more involved than that but you get the idea and probably don't want to read a book about it!). Here CN 577 doubles its train into the siding and back track at Martins in order to clear the way for a meet with CN 451 and CN X453 before continuing on to MacMillan Yard near Toronto..
