Reliving The Golden Days At Golden Hour. For those that have been here before, Oxnard isn't necessarily a place where you want to prop up your boots and hang out for long when it comes to railfanning. There isn't much to do on this side of town, and if you aren't there at the right time, it might be a while before the next Amtrak train arrives to give you a glimmer of action. On this afternoon in particular, I made sure to time my visit with the arrival of Union Pacific's twice-a-week running LOF67. With it's work completed in Oxnard and Amtrak 777 now out running ahead of it, all is quiet in town now. While some might have cut for home, I cast a glance toward the local power one more time and saw a glimpse of the golden days at golden hour. There was ex-SP 9759, now UP 1053, catching some sweet afternoon light on its cowl all while parked appropriately next to an ex-SP box car.
