United States Steel's Granite City Works is home to a number of vintage switch locomotives. Here at the massive facility, we see SW1200 #1244 shoving in with a bottle car. SW1200 #1191 can also be seen doing its best to hide, while working a cut of steel cars. 1244 was built new, in April of 1957 for the company, while 1191 was built for the CB&Q in 1955. With the steel industry in rather rough shape, many facilities have been idled, but these hard working locomotives are doing their best to keep Granite City Works going! Here's hoping for brighter times ahead for the industry.
