Following the Book Cliffs in the Utah desert, Rio Grande’s Potash Local powered by EMD GP40-2 Nos. 3125 and 3117 climbs westbound over Thompson Hill just east of Thompson in July 1984. The four idler flat cars between the three tank cars, along with a string of empty coal hoppers, will be set out at Brendel, with the two locomotives and caboose heading down the Cane Creek Branch with the tank cars.
