The Trainway Is The Way. The Amtrak Sunset Limited (Train 1, P42DC 5 leading) passes through the Bataan Memorial Trainway in El Paso, Texas on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 19, 2020. The Trainway was a long planned project by the City of El Paso. Seeking to eliminate the dangers and congestion caused by may downtown at grade crossings, it was completed in 1950 with just over two years of work and forever altered the landscape and development of the area. Southwest University Park, the home of the El Paso Chihuahuas of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League, sits on Durango Street and will likely not see any competitive play this year.

The Lone Star State is big on route mileage but small on passenger service with only three routes for the second biggest state by size and population. Offerings include the Sunset Limited, Texas Eagle and Heartland Flyer.
