Maybrook, 1969? Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum 562 (ex-Birmingham Southern, 151, Alco RS-3) has seen a lot of paint over the years, but nothing like this. Seizing on the opportunity to use its condition as an asset, a few members set upon it as a unique opportunity to re-create the Penn Central era. Often, rather than fully repaint their engines, PC would “patch” over the logos with their own, slap on a new number, and put it back in service. How long will it stay like this? Museum officials were not available for comment, but were kind enough to arrange for it to be in a photographable position on the night of Saturday, September 19, 2020 in Lenox, MA.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
